Automotive diagnostics
Diagnostics that find the fault, not just the code
A fault code tells you where the vehicle noticed a problem. It does not tell you what is broken. We scan, measure, test and then tell you what is actually wrong — in writing.

Clearing a code is not a repair. Our work starts with a full-system scan, then live data, wiring checks and component testing until the reading explains the symptom. Only then do we tell you what to replace.
We work on far more than cars: light and heavy commercial vehicles, trucks, industrial machinery and agricultural equipment. Where a workshop is doing the repair, we hand them the findings and explain them.
Our diagnostic process
- 01The vehicle is assessed.
- 02All systems are scanned.
- 03Fault codes and live data are analysed.
- 04Components are tested where the data points at them.
- 05Findings are documented in a printed report.
- 06We explain the result — to you, and to your repairer where needed.

Diagnostic reports
A fault code is not a diagnosis
You leave with a written record of what was scanned, what the readings showed, and what we recommend — not a verbal guess.
- All systems scanned, not just the engine
- Live data logged where relevant
- Component tests recorded
- Recommended next step, in order of likelihood
- Explained to your repairer on request

P2002
DPF efficiency below threshold — soot load verified in live data
P0401
EGR flow insufficient — actuator tested on bench, passed
U0101
Lost communication with TCM — wiring checked at connector

In the workshop
Programming and adaptations we perform
Dealer-level functions carried out routinely on the bench and on the vehicle.
Throttle adaptation
Relearn after cleaning or replacement so idle and pedal response are correct.
CAS / DME / ELV alignment
Module alignment on BMW and Mercedes systems after failure or replacement.
DPF regeneration
Forced regeneration with soot load verified in live data first.
Valvetronic functions
Adaptation and initialisation of variable valve systems.
Transmission functions
Adaptations, resets and service functions on automatic boxes.
Steering-angle calibration
Sensor calibration after suspension, steering or ABS work.
Remote synchronisation
Remotes and keys re-synchronised to the vehicle.
Battery registration
New battery registered so charging strategy matches it.
Why ALC
Why bring it to ALC
OEM and aftermarket equipment
Dealer-level functions on many makes, plus broad aftermarket coverage for older and mixed fleets.
You get it in writing
A printed report with the codes, the readings behind them and the recommended next step.
We talk to your repairer
Where you already have a mechanic, we explain the findings to them directly.
Component testing next door
When the data points at a module or sensor, it can be bench-tested here before you buy one.
FAQs
Questions we get asked
My mechanic already scanned it. Why come here?
A scan lists codes. We interpret them against live data and component tests, which is what identifies the actual fault.
Do I get something to take away?
Yes — a printed report of what was scanned, what was found and what we recommend, explained before you leave.
Do you work on trucks and machinery?
Yes: light and heavy commercial, trucks, industrial and agricultural equipment.
Can you help a workshop remotely?
In many cases yes — remote diagnostic support and programming assistance are available.
